Women's Varsity Silences the Thunder
The Women's Varsity team took on the Trine University Thunder this past weekend in their first ever home at home weekend series.
The Bulldogs traveled to Indiana Friday night to take on the Thunder on the road. The Bulldogs would strike first, scoring 1:50 into the first period with a goal from Tory Harshman on the powerplay. Brooke Schembri and Jacqueline White would grab the assists on the powerplay tally. Olivia Fox would grab a goal as the final 30 seconds ticked away from the first period to five the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. Maggie Mitter and Shelly Czarnowczan would grab assists on Fox's goal. After one, the Bulldogs would have the 2-0 lead.
The Thunder would strike at the 8:19 mark of the second period on the powerplay but Sydney Daversa would answer less than two minutes later to regain the two goal lead. Fox and Brianna Buchanan would grab assists on Daversa's goal. Czarnowczan would give the Bulldogs the 4-1 lead twenty seconds later off of assists from Neysa Miller and Hannah Dalrymple. After two, the away team would have a 4-1 advantage.
Rose Krasofsky would grab the lone goal of the third period at the 16:20 mark from Daversa. Final score would be 5-1 Bulldogs with netminder Mia Glassco picking up the win.
The Bulldogs would play host Saturday night to the Thunder at Arrington Ice Arena.
The home team would strike first once again on the powerplay with Neysa Miller picking up the first goal of the game. Freya Holferty and Sydney Daversa would grab assists. Kelly O'Sullivan would snag the second goal of the game with 1:01 left in the period with the lone assist going to Brianna Buchanan. After one, the Bulldogs would once again be leading 2-0.
Miller's second of the night would come at even strength at the 9:20 mark of the second period. Olivia Fox would grab the lone assist. Rose Krasofsky would grab her second in two games 5 minutes later, also at even strength. Hannah Dalrymple and Lexi Grunden would be awarded assists. After two, your Bulldogs had a 4-0 lead.
Fox would grab her second in two games at the 0:40 mark of the third period with assists going to Kristi Zink and Tory Harshamn. Fox's goal was a powerplay goal. Brianna Buchanan's second goal of the season would make things 6-0 in favor of the home team. Zink and Mitter would assist on Buchanan's goal. Krasofsky would net her second of the night at the 3:07 mark of the final frame with assists from Shelly Czarnowczan and Kortney Diaz. Trine would spoil the Bulldogs' shutout at the 6:14 mark of the third but the Bulldogs would add one more goal on the powerplay from Diaz before the end of the game. Krasofsky and Jacqueline White would be awarded assists.
Final score Saturday night would be 8-1 in favor of the Bulldogs once again, this time with Kate Turner picking up the win.
The Bulldogs take on St. Scholastica this Friday at 7:00 pm at Arrington Ice Arena and will take on the Saints once again on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
