MD1 Takes Down Michigan-Dearborn
The MD1 team took on conference foe the University of Michigan at Dearborn Wolverines this weekend in a home at home series.
The first game of the series took place Thursday night at Arrington Ice Arena.
Dominic Moore got things started on the powerplay for the Bulldogs at the 11:09 mark of the first period on an unassisted effort. Mike Finger would strike four minutes later, picking off a rebound and making the score 2-0 in favor of the home team. After one, your Bulldogs would lead 2-0.
Finger would grab his second of the night from his back at the 1:46 mark of the second period with assists going to Joe Costello and Brad Kobryn. The Wolverines would cut the Bulldog lead down to a 3-1 lead at the 5:20 mark before Jordan Oshowy walked the puck in and grabbed his second goal of the season, chasing out the starting goaltender for Dearborn. Costello and Josh Hosking would assist on Oshowy's goal. Dearborn would cut the lead down to 2 at the 14:56 mark of the second period. Finger would complete the hat trick under a minute later to give the Dawgs another 3 goal lead. Rainer Glimpel would grab his first of the night at the 18:35 mark of the second period off of a tic tac toe play from Hosking and Oshowy. After two, your Bulldogs would have the 6-2 lead.
Glimpel would snag another at the 11:42 mark of the final frame with assists going to Dominic Moore and Marcus Rose. The Wolverines would grab a powerplay goal in the final two minutes of the game, but the Bulldogs would end up on top by a score of 7-3 with Mike Barrett picking up the win between the pipes.
The Bulldogs would travel to the University of Michigan at Dearborn Friday night to take on the Wolverines once again.
This time, the Wolverines would strike first in the first ten minutes of the game. Brad Kobryn would tie things up before the end of the first, catching a pass from Joe Costello and going over the goalie's glove after shooting mid fall while on the powperplay. Score heading into the first intermission would be all tied up at 1-1.
Jordan Oshowy's second in two games would give the road team the 2-1 lead in the second period with the lone assist going to Kobryn. Kobryn would feed Costello minutes later on the powerplay to give the Bulldogs the 3-1 lead to close out the second period of play. Kottek would grab the secondary assist on Costello's powerplay goal.
Kyle Perkowski would grab an empty net goal in the final minute of the game to clinch the win for the Bulldogs. Final score was 4-1 Bulldogs with Austyn Roudebush picking up the win in net.
The Bulldogs travel to New York to take on Stonybrook University this weekend and are back at home on Thursday, November 20th at 7:15 pm when they face off against Oakland University.
