The D3 Gold team took on Central Michigan University for their final home at home series of the regular season last weekend.

The Bulldogs first travelled to Mount Pleasant on Friday afternoon to take on the Chippewas on the road. The Bulldogs would prevail, coming out on top of a 4-3 score after a goal in the final two minutes of the game. The Bulldog goals would be scored by Kyle Schulz (2), Chase Whallon and Jordan Ruelle (GWG).

Saturday night in Adrian would be the special one, senior night, as Mitch Bancroft, Nick Bordeaux, Paul Gorski, Justin Lindgren, Scotty Millen, Matt Schwehr and Nick Spagnol would all play their final game at Arrington Ice Arena.

Andy Petersmark would give the Bulldogs their first lead of the night off of a shorthanded goal at the 4:04 mark of the first period. Kyle Schulz and Mitch Bancroft would assist on the shorty. Senior Matt Schwehr would grab another Bulldog goal at the 16:34 mark to give the home team a more comfortable 2-0 lead before the first period would end. Mario Tomei and Trevor Benaglio would grab assists on Schwehr’s goal.

The Chippewas would pull within one at the 13:16 mark of the second period but Andy Petersmark’s second of the night at the 13:33 mark would give the home team the two goal lead once again. Joe Laskero and Jack Clary would assist on Petersmark’s second of the game. Senior Nick Bordeaux would grab a goal of his own at the 16:06 mark, extending the Bulldogs lead to 4-1. Joe Gibbs and Schwehr would assist on Bordeaux’s tally. After two, the Bulldogs were leading 4-1.

Bordeaux would grab one more before the final buzzer rang with Brandon McClean and senior Paul Gorski grabbing assists. Final score at Arrington would be 6-1.

With the sweep, the Bulldogs are regular season co-champions of the MCHC East, tying with Oakland University for first place. The Bulldogs now play the waiting game until February 15th when the regional rankings are released to find out whether or not they will have to travel to East Lansing for the Regional Tournament or grab their first autobid to Nationals in program history.
