Three WACHA Players to Represent Team USA at World University Games

The roster for the 2017 World University Games was announced earlier today, January 3rd and three Bulldogs were selected to represent the red, white and blue.

Graduate student Jessie Rushing (Hernando, Miss.) will represent the Bulldogs as the oldest player on the team along with freshman Brittany Levasseur (Pepperiell, Mass.) and Sabrena Camp (Rochester Hills, Mich.).

Levasseur currently leads the Bulldogs in goals (10) and is second in points with 15.

""It [being named to Team USA] means that I have the honor of representing my country which is one of the largest accomplishments that I will have in my lifetime," says Levasseur, "It is something that hasn't fully hit me yet, but I am more than ready to travel overseas to play the sport I love for Team USA. It shows that all my parents did for me like driving me to practices/games helped me become the player that I am and have this once in a lifetime opportunity."

Rushing, in her fourth year as a Bulldog, currently sits at 6th overall on the team in points with 9 (2G-7A).

"Words cannot described how excited I am for this experience. It means a lot to me to be a member of Team USA and to represent my country, school and my hometown," says Rushing.

Camp has tallied three assists from the blue line this season so far.

"This team and this trip represent my biggest learning experience that I have gotten the opportunity to be apart of in my 17 years of hockey," says Camp, "I am beyond excited to see the growth, strength, and depth of this team."

The World University Games are hosted every other year and Team USA features the best of the ACHA.

This marks the second Games where the Bulldogs are represented after Amanda Antos became the first WACHA player to be named to Team USA in 2015.

WACHA Head Coach Brett Berger will be behind the bench for Team USA, serving as an assistant coach alongside former Olympic Gold Medalist Shelley Looney and Miami Ohio head coach Scott Hicks.

Rushing, Camp, Levasseur and Berger will head to Almaty, Kazakhstan from January 28th through February 8th. They will play two round robin games against Russia and Japan before the playoff round.
