Levasseur Scores Four, WACHA Sweeps Michigan

The Women’s ACHA D1 team took on the University of Michigan Wolverines in a home-at-home series this past weekend.

The Bulldogs played host first on Thursday, October 27th. Michigan grabbed an early lead in the first period and would hold onto that lead until the 18:03 mark of the third when freshman Britt Levasseur tied the game at 1 with her first collegiate goal. Jessie Rushing and Tara Wreblis would notch assists on Levasseur’s goal. Nicole Paradis would give the Bulldogs the lead at the 19:04 mark off of an unassisted effort and the Bulldogs would head to the third with a 2-1 lead.

Jessica Fabbro would give the Bulldogs a solid 3-1 lead with 5:13 gone in the third off of assists from Sabrena Camp and Paradis. Levasseur would net her second of the night at the 9:53 mark of the third with Wreblis and Rushing assisting once again. Levasseur would complete the hat trick four minutes later off of a rebound from Rushing. Rushing and Taylor Murcek would notch assists. The final horn would sound and the Bulldogs would take game 1 by a score of 5-1.

The Bulldogs travelled to Southfield the next night to take on Michigan on the road. Levasseur would be the hero once again, scoring the lone goal of the game at the 6:20 mark of the middle frame to secure the sweep.

The Bulldogs play host to Penn State this Friday night and Saturday afternoon at Arrington Ice Arena where they look to complete their fourth sweep of the season.

1*Britt Levasseur: Freshman Britt Levasseur notched 4 of the 9 goals scored this weekend, including the game winner and lone goal Friday night. Levasseur is a solid, consistent forward who has seemed to click with linemate Jessie Rushing.

2**Alison Dungey: Junior Alison Dungey blocked all but one shot she faced this weekend en route to her fifth win of the season.

3***Jessie Rushing: Senior Jessie Rushing grabbed assists on all of Levasseur’s goals this weekend for four points in two games.
