Men's Varsity Splits With MSOE; Entmaa Records First Shutout
The Men’s NCAA team kicked off their tenth season of hockey on Friday, October 28th and 29th when they faced the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders in a two game home series.
Sophomore Bryan Yim kicked off the scoring for the season, scoring an even strength goal at the 3:38 mark of the first. Sophomore Trevor Boyd and junior Blake Butzow assisted on Yim’s goal. The Raiders scored on the powerplay two minutes later and the period would end with a 1-1 tie.
The Raiders scored two in the second period to give them a 3-1 lead going into the third period. Sophomore Cory Dunn would tally a powerplay goal at the 11:00 mark of the third. Junior Taylor McCloy and sophomore Connor Armour would get the assist on the powerplay tally. Despite valiant efforts, the Bulldogs would fall to the Raiders 2-3 on opening night.
Junior Kyle Brothers would open the scoring on the powerplay for game #2 on Saturday afternoon. Juniors Taylor McCloy and Mat Thompson would grab assists on Brothers’ powerplay goal at the 8:12 mark of the first period. Freshman Joey Colatarci would grab his first as a Bulldog 8 minutes later while on the 5-on-3 powerplay. Sophomore Cory Dunn and Brothers would grab the assists on the powerplay tally. After one period of play, the Bulldogs would be up 2-0.
Sophomore Trevor Boyd would waste no time getting onto the board in the middle frame, tallying his first of the year 59 seconds into the second. Yim would tally the lone assist on Boyd’s goal. Yim would grab his own goal 5:17 into the frame off of assists from Dunn and Armour.
Freshman Tyler Currie would grab his first goal as a Bulldog as well in the third period, giving the Bulldogs a 5-0 lead. Vinny Paquette would grab the assist on Currie’s goal at the 4:41 mark. Junior Austin Rust would tally his first of the season at the 9:56 mark of the third. Freshman Scotty Clark and sophomore Brian Bachnak would grab assists on Rust’s goal, the final goal of the game. The final horn would sound and the Bulldogs would grab the win by a score of 6-0.
The Bulldogs are on the road this coming weekend as they travel to Wisconsin to face Northland College Friday and Saturday. They come back to AIA to face off against Marian on November 11th and 12th at 7:05 and 3:05. Photos of the games can be found on my Facebook page and in a gallery here.

1*Bryan Yim: Sophomore forward Bryan Yim tallied two goals and one assist over the weekend against MSOE as well as having a multitude of quality scoring chances throughout the two contests.
2**Taylor McCloy: Junior forward and newly appointed assistant captain Taylor McCloy grabbed two assists over the weekend and proved once again why he is an instrumental part of the Bulldog powerplay and penalty kill units.
3***Kevin Entmaa: Sophomore goaltender Kevin Entmaa got off to a rocky start Friday night, letting in three goals against MSOE in the loss that night. Entmaa, however, bounced right back Saturday afternoon, grabbing his first shutout in a Bulldog sweater.
