Why DIII? Day Two: Tyler Parks
Every year, the NCAA Division III shines a light on DIII athletes with Why DIII? week, April 4-10. This year, I've decided to feature a player from our NCAA hockey teams, much like I did with our ACHA players over the course of the season, this week and ask them Why DIII and Why Adrian? For the second day of #d3week is junior transfer goaltender Tyler Parks. Parks played 630:34:00 minutes in net for the Bulldogs this season and posted a .925% SV% along with a 1.9 GAA and 8-2-1 record for the Bulldogs, including a big victory over St. Norbert College in the Harris Cup Finals when coming in to relieve an injured Kevin Entmaa.
-Name:
Tyler Parks
-Where did you play before coming to Adrian?
St. Lawrence University (NCAA D-1, ECAC)
-Why did you choose Adrian?
I chose Adrian College for the top notch hockey program and strong tradition. I also chose Adrian College because it is a small school with great academic programs.
-Was Adrian your first choice?
Yes, Adrian was my first choice of Division III schools.
-Were you considering playing for a DI school? If so, what made you choose DIII?
I played for an NCAA D-1 school and didn't play as much as I had hoped to develop further as a goalie, so I transferred to Adrian College so that I could play more games and develop more.
-What’s your favorite part of playing hockey here at Adrian at the DIII level?
I think the best part about playing here is the fan base and playing in front of loyal fans like we have at the college here every night.
-What’s your favorite memory of your experience here at Adrian so far?
My favorite memory in my first year at Adrian would have to be winning the Harris Cup as the team did last year as well and continuing that strong Adrian hockey tradition.
If you are a member of the Men's or Women's NCAA teams at Adrian and want to be featured this week for Why D3 Week, email me at ccostello19@adrian.edu.
