Five Bulldogs Earn Women's NCHA Honors
The NCHA announced their all conference and all rookie teams this afternoon and five Bulldogs and Coach Chad Davis all received honors from the league.
Junior Captain Kaylyn Schroka, junior Kristin Lewicki, junior Sydney Smith, and sophomore Kristi Zink were all named to the All-NCHA team.
Captain Kaylyn Schroka was tied for second in points this season with senior Logan Taylor. Schroka compiled 17 goals and 21 assists this season for 28 points. This is Schrocka’s first All-NCHA nod.
Kristin Lewicki led the Bulldogs through the regular season with 29 goals and 16 assists for 45 points this season in 25 games played. Lewicki was also second in goals in all of the NCAA DIII and tied for second in points this season. With 109 career points, Lewicki is only 13 points away from tying the program record for career points. This is Lewicki’s second All-NCHA honor.
Sydney Smith led Bulldog’s defense with 7 goals and 22 assists for 29 points this season and was fourth in team points. Smith led the Bulldogs in the plus/minus category with an astounding +35. Smith is also a two time All-NCHA player.
Kristi Zink was named to her first All-NCHA team this season and compiled 1 goal and 10 assists for 11 points this season, scoring her first career goal on November 13th. Zink is third on the team in plus/minus with a +29.
Freshman Brooke Lupi was named the NCHA Freshman of the Year. Lupi, a native of Dexter, Michigan and a Little Caesar’s AAA alum, made an immediate impact with the Bulldogs this season. Lupi finished her first regular season third on the team in points with 16 goals and 16 assists.
Coach Chad Davis was also named NCHA Women’s Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. Davis is in his fifth year as the bench boss for the Bulldogs and has compiled a 52-17-7 record behind the bench for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are fresh off of a sweep of Lake Forest College when they clinched first place in the NCHA for the second season in a row and the second time in program history. The Bulldogs look to capture their first SLAATS Cup this weekend as they host two semifinal games on Saturday, February 27th at 7:00pm and Sunday, February 28th at 2:00pm.
