Men's D1 Shuts Out Rochester College
The Men’s ACHA D1 team took on the Rochester College Warriors for the final time this regular season at Arrington Ice Arena on February 6th.
Captain Bobby Bodette started the scoring for the Bulldogs, giving the Bulldogs the 1-0 lead with 3:29 gone in the first. Bodette’s goal was assisted by Chris Derochie and Nick Goettel. Goettel grabbed a goal of his own three minutes later, sending home the second goal of the game off of Bodette’s rebound. Bodette and Matt Schwehr would assist on Goettel’s goal. After the first period, the Bulldogs were up 2-0 and shots on goal were 16-6 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Josh Hosking would get the Bulldogs off to a quick start in the second, scoring on an unassisted effort just 45 seconds into the second. Schwehr would grab a goal of his own with 4:28 gone in the second. Derochie and Bodette would be awarded assists on Schwehr’s goal. The Warriors would be assessed a five minute major with 1:48 left in the second for hitting from behind, giving the Bulldogs a five minute powerplay. They would not find the back of the net in the second, but would still be up 4-0 and shots would be 39-12 after two.
Cooper McLean would capitalize on the five minute powerplay 1:14 into the third frame. Ted Anstett and Erik Alden would grab helpers on McLean’s powerplay tally. With 12:23 remaining, the Bulldogs would replace goaltender Austyn Roudebush with goaltender Drake Koegel. Less than a minute later, Koegel would notch an assist on Archie McKinnon’s goal, the first point by a goalie on the Men’s D1 team this season. Derochie would also be awarded an assist on McKinnon’s goal. The Bulldogs would strike once again on the powerplay at the 16:04 mark of the third period on a goal from Derochie. Bodette and Schwehr would grab assists on the final goal of the night. Final score would be 7-0 and shots would be 62-16 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Austyn Roudebush would turn away all 14 shots he faced and Drake Koegel would stop the two shots he faced and grab an assist in his first game in goal for the D1 team. The Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday, February 11th at 7pm for senior night, where they will be honoring seniors Bobby Bodette and Andre Rakas.
