Women's Varsity Blanks Manhattanville


The Women’s Varsity team took on the Manhattanville Valiants in their first game of the second annual Bruiser Bowl at Arrington Ice Arena, their second game this week.

The Bulldogs wasted no time scoring the first goal of the night at the 1:10 mark of the first when Lexi Tzafaroglou took a shot from the point that found its way past the Valiants goaltender. Michelle Jones and Kristin Lewicki would grab assists on Tzafargolou’s tally. Lewicki would grab her first goal of the night four minutes later, assists went to Kaylyn Schrocka and Logan Taylor. Schrocka would put the Bulldogs up 3-0 with 4 minutes remaining in the opening frame. Brooke Lupi and Logan Taylor would pick up assists on Schrocka’s goal. Sydney Smith would strike from the point a minute later, sending a rocket past the Valiants goaltender, assisted by Emily Duncan and Bailey Robertson. The night would be over for Valiants goaltender Megan Messuri after the Bulldogs scored 4 goals on their first 11 shots. Logan Taylor would close out the scoring for the first period of play with 3:05 left to play on a goal assisted by Sydney Smith. After the first, the Bulldogs were outscoring their opponents 5-0 and outshooting them 18-1.

Michelle Jones would open the second period scoring 42 seconds into the middle frame on a goal assisted by Hannah Dalrymple and Emily Duncan. Sarah Shureb would grab the next Bulldog goal, which was scored at the 9:58 mark of the second. Courtney Tyll and Kelsey Dupuis were awarded assists on Shureb’s goal. Jones would strike once again in the second, this time while playing 4 on 4 hockey, her second goal was assisted by Audrey Noles at the 13:22 mark of the second period. Brooke Lupi would score the first powerplay goal of the night with a shot fired from the top of the circle at the 15:38 mark. Kristin Lewicki and Logan Taylor would get the helpers on Lupi’s powerplay goal. The Bulldogs would have a commanding 9-0 lead after two periods and were outshooting their opponents 33-2 after forty minutes.

Kristin Lewicki would score the final Bulldog goal of the night on the powerplay at the 12:10 mark of the third. Lewicki would catch a rebound from a Sydney Smith shot and redirect the puck right behind the Valiants goaltender for the 10th goal of the night and her second goal of the night.

The Bulldogs outshot the Valiants 39-10 and outscored them 10-0 en route to their 7th straight win. Jade Walsh would block both shots she faced through 40 minutes and Anne Rademacher would stop all 8 shots she faced in the final 20 minutes of play. The Bulldogs improve to 11-2 overall after the win and will face St. Olaf tomorrow, Saturday, January 9th at 4pm for the final game of the 2016 Bruiser Bowl.
