Women's Varsity Downs Stevenson 8-1
The Women’s Varsity team was the first team to hit the ice at AIA this year, facing off against the unbeaten Stevenson University Mustangs on January 6th.
The Bulldogs struck first with two quick goals from Hannah Dalrymple and Brooke Lupi scoring 17 seconds apart to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead with a little over 15 minutes remaining in the first period. Logan Taylor and Audrey Noles picked up assists on Dalrymple’s goal and Taylor grabbed the lone assist on Lupi’s goal. The Mustangs would tie the game 9 minutes later on the powerplay, on their first shot of the game. After one, shots on goal were 20-5 and the score was 2-1, both in favor of the Bulldogs.
Lupi picked up her second goal of the game with 3:11 gone into the middle frame, Taylor would again grab the only assist on Lupi’s goal. Kristin Lewicki would grab her first of the night on a beautiful backhand shot that sailed over the goaltender’s shoulder to give the Bulldogs a solid 4-1 lead. Sydney Smith and Michelle Jones would be awarded assists on Lewicki’s first of the game. Courtney Tyll would make it a 5-1 game three minutes later with Lewicki getting the assist on Tyll’s goal. Lewicki would strike once again at the 15:10 mark on an unassisted effort, sliding the puck past the goaltender once again. Smith would close out the scoring in the second at the 17:35 mark, hammering the puck from the blue line and sending it past the goaltender. The score after two periods of play was 7-1 in favor of the Bulldogs and shots on goal were. 35-8,.
The lone goal of the final frame was scored by Logan Taylor only 23 seconds into the period. Brooke Lupi would tally the only assist on Taylor’s goal, the last goal of the game.
The Bulldogs would snap the Mustangs unbeaten streak and improve to 10-2-0 on the season. Brooke Gibson would stop 4 of the 5 shots she faced in the first frame and Jade Walsh would stop all 9 of the shots she faced. The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, January 8th when they take on Manhanttanville in the first game of the Bruiser Bowl. Gametime is 7:00pm.

*Brooke Lupi: Lupi had a fantastic game, grabbing 2 goals and 1 assist and sending 5 shots at the net. Lupi’s rocket shot from the point on the powerplay generated quite a bit of offense for the Bulldogs.
**Logan Taylor: Taylor picked up a goal and 4 assists, taking part in 5 of 8 Bulldog goals. Taylor also had time on the powerplay unit in which she created multiple scoring chances both on the powerplay and at even strength. Taylor also racked up 7 shots on goal.
***Kristin Lewicki: Lewicki had two absolutely beautiful goals, both that she scored with ease after evading the Mustang defense. Lewicki also grabbed an assist and finished the night with a +4 plus/minus and 4 shots on goal.
