DIII Black Topped by Aquinas College

The ACHA DIII Black squad hosted the Aquinas Saints on Thursday night at Arrington Ice Arena.

The first period would end with a 0-0 tie and only one penalty was assessed to the Bulldogs and no penalties were given to the Saints. Less than two minutes into the second, however, Aquinas would score two quick goals 40 seconds apart to put the Bulldogs down by 2. The Saints would then lead by 3 with 14:09 gone in the period. The Bulldogs, however, would have a 5-on-3 powerplay two minutes later and would capitalize on the powerplay. Freshman Joe Gibbs scored the powerplay goal off of a shot from the point with assists going to sophomore Andy Petersmark and freshman Robert Bathory. After two, the Bulldogs would be down 3-1.

The third period saw zero Bulldog goals scored, however, Aquinas managed to double their goal count and the final score would be 1-6 in favor of the visiting team.

The Bulldogs compiled 20 shots on goal over three periods of play and freshman Gilbert Oldreive turned away 32 of the 38 shots he faced. The Bulldogs will be back on home ice on December 3rd when they face the Timberwolves of Northwood College at Arrington Ice Arena, gametime is 7:00pm.

1* Adrien Sebag: Sebag had several breakaways during the game and made some great plays and passes to his teammates.

2**Joe Gibbs: Despite being a defenseman, Gibbs has a knack for rushing the puck and creating offense and racking up shots on goal. Gibbs also scored the lone Bulldog goal of the game, a powerplay goal from the point.

3***Gilbert Oldreive: Goaltender Oldreive was peppered with shot after shot and made some remarkable saves despite the 6-1 loss.
