W. ACHA Tops Davenport

The #3 ranked W. ACHA team hosted the Davenport University Panthers on Thursday, October 29th.

Despite outshooting the Panthers 32-7 in the first 40 minutes of play, the Bulldogs did not find the back of the net during the first two thirds of the contest. Kirstin Labelle scored the first goal of the contest at the 8:54 mark of the third. Sam Fortune and Sabrena Camp grabbed the assists on Labelle’s goal. Kallie Hardy would give the Bulldogs a two goal lead two minutes later when she buried her fourth goal of the season. Marisa Sheppard would notch the lone assist on Hardy’s goal. The Panthers would score their only goal of the game on the powerplay at the 12:32 mark of the third after Summer Frey was called for tripping. The Bulldogs, however, would seal the deal at the 18:17 mark when Alecia Tait notched her third goal of the season.

The final score was 3-1 and shots on goal were 48-12, both in favor of the home team. Goaltender Allison Dungey turned away 11 of the 12 shots she faced for the win. The Bulldogs will be back at home on Saturday, November 14th when they host the Lakers of Grand Valley State University.

***Carly’s Three Stars of the Game***

1* Kallie Hardy: Hardy scored the second goal of the game, which would end up being the game winning goal. Not only did she find the back of the net, but did well in small area situations and battles along the boards and wasn’t afraid to be physical.

2** Kirstin Labelle: Labelle scored the first goal of the game for the Bulldogs by crashing the net. Labelle is nearly always causing trouble for the other team while on the ice, knocking down several girls who got in the way of her and the puck and she isn’t afraid to get in the goalie’s face and crash the net.

3** Jessica Fabbro: Fabbro, who plays defense, had multiple rushes and shots on goal from the slot during the contest, giving the Bulldogs some much needed offense.
