The ACHA DIII Gold squad took on the Central Michigan University Chippewas for the second time in as many days on Saturday, October 10th at Arrington Ice Arena.

Alex Egan notched the first goal, an unassisted goal, of the night 11:49 into the first period. Dan Hudson would strike merely 21 seconds later, giving the Bulldogs a two goal lead. Scott Millen picked up the lone assist on Hudson’s goal and the Bulldogs would end the period with a 2-0 lead.

The 2-0 Bulldog lead would not last long into the second. The Chippewas struck twice in the first four minutes of the game, tying it at two goals a piece. Egan would once again give the Bulldogs the lead six minutes into the middle frame, Myles Maltz grabbed the assist on Egan’s second goal of the night, a powerplay goal. Egan would strike once more on the powerplay six minutes later, completing the hat trick on an unassisted goal. The Chippewas would cut the Bulldog lead down to one once again with 7 minutes remaining in the second and the second period would end with a 4-3 game.

The Bulldogs had two powerplay opportunities in the third, but did not capitalize on them. The Chippewas would tie the game at 4 with seven minutes left while the Bulldogs were on the penalty kill.

The game would then head to overtime after sixty minutes of play. The Bulldogs had four quality chances but neither team would find the back of the net, therefore, the game ended in a rare tie. The Bulldogs improved to 3-0-1 (W-L-T) on the season after the contest.
