Men's ACHA DI Sweeps Niagara
The Men’s ACHA DI team took on the Niagara Purple Eagles on October 3rd and 4th to open their season at home. After defeating the Purple Eagles on Saturday night by a score of 4-1, the Bulldogs looked to complete their first sweep of the season on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore powerhouse Brad Kobryn sent home the first goal of the game only four minutes into the game, Justin Fisher picked up the assist on Kobryn’s goal, his second of the season. The Bulldogs would score once more in the first period of play. Trevor Benaglio gave the Bulldogs a two goal lead with less than three minutes remaining on an unassisted goal.
The Bulldogs would not score again until the final frame when Chris Derochie sealed the deal for the Bulldogs with seven minutes remaining in the game. Fisher and Andre Rakas assisted on Derochie’s goal.
The Bulldogs would rack up 37 shots on goal throughout the game and Adrian goaltender Matt Schnoes would turn away all 11 shots he faced. The Bulldogs will be back in action on October 9th when they face the Oakland University Grizzlies at Arrington Ice Arena.
