Women's ACHA Opens Regular Season With a Win
The Women’s ACHA team took on Robert Morris University (Illinois) on October 2nd to kick off the regular season at home.
The Bulldogs would be held scoreless during the first twenty minutes of play and find themselves down by a single goal heading into the second period. Nicole Paradis would tie the game up with 6:29 gone in the second when she put home her first of the regular season, Alicia Tait was given the assist on Paradis’ goal. Sophomore Sabrena Camp would give the Bulldogs the lead less than a minute later, Morgan Praska would grab the assist on Camp’s goal, which would be the game winning goal.
Going into the third period, the Bulldogs had the lead and would not give it up during the final frame. Jessie Rushing scored the first goal of the final period of action after a spectacular play by Kirsten Labelle and Nichole Laflamme, Labelle and Laflamme would be awarded the assists on Rushing’s goal, which gave the Bulldogs a comfortable 3-1 lead. Kallie Hardy would send home her first of the regular season with less than five minutes remaining in the game, Tait and Paradis would pick up the assists on Hardy’s goal. Morgan Praska would score the fifth and final Bulldog goal of the night with two minutes remaining in the game, Jessica Fabbro picked up the assist on Praska’s goal.
The Bulldogs kicked off the regular season with a 5-1 over the RMU Eagles and goaltender Allison Dungey would stop 9 out of 10 shots she faced while the Bulldogs racked up 33 shots on goal. The Bulldogs and Eagles will face off once again on Saturday, October 3rd at 3pm at Arrington Ice Arena.
