Women's ACHA Skates Past Scarborough
The Women’s ACHA team improved to 2-1 this weekend in exhibition play after defeating the Scarborough Sharks on September 25th.
The first period saw no goals scored but the only penalty of the game was handed out to senior forward Jessie Rushing six minutes into the contest. The Bulldogs killed of the penalty and would not find the back of the net in the first frame. Senior forward Nichole Laflamme would bury the first goal of the game for the Bulldogs in the second period with 6:42 remaining in the second period of play with Rushing grabbing the lone assist. The Bulldogs would end the second period with a 1-0 lead over the Sharks. Freshman forward Kallie Hardy would give the Bulldogs a comfortable two goal lead less than two minutes into the final period. Hardy’s goal was unassisted. The final Bulldog goal of the evening would go to freshman forward Nicole Paradis, who would pick up another unassisted goal. The Sharks would score their lone goal of the game with less than five minutes remaining in the period. Senior goaltender Ellyn Stanton stopped 21 of the 22 shots she faced, giving the Bulldogs the win.
The Women’s ACHA team will look to complete the sweep on September 26th at 3:00 pm when they face the Sharks for the second game of their two game series.
