Women's ACHA Completes Sweep of Scarborough

The Women’s ACHA team completed their sweep of the Scarborough Sharks on Saturday, September 26th.

The first Bulldog goal of the game came from sophomore Lauren Hughes at the 13:10 mark of the first period. Senior Valerie Twigg and sophomore Sabrena Camp picked up the assists on the goal. A little over a minute later, Alessandra Raciti gave the Bulldogs a two goal lead when she put one past the Scarborough goaltender. Freshmen Nicole Paradis and Kallie Hardy were awarded assists on Raciti’s goal. The Bulldogs would go back to the locker room with a comfortable two goal lead. The lead would be cut in half at the 2:55 mark of the third period when Scarborough sent the puck past senior goaltender Ellyn Stanton. Stanton, however, would not allow another goal while she was in net. Senior Jessie Rushing struck back seven minutes later, giving the Bulldogs a two goal lead once again. Senior Nichole Laflamme and freshman Micayla Saryl picked up the assists on Rushing’s goal. The Bulldogs would once again head to the locker room with a two goal lead, this time up 3-1. The final frame saw one goal scored by each team. Nicole Paradis found the back of the net for the Bulldogs with assists going to Lauren Hughes and Kallie Hardy.

Goaltender Ellyn Stanton would leave the net with 3:18 left in the game and senior defenseman turned goalie for the game Shannon Osland would go between the pipes for the Bulldogs. Stanton stopped 13 of 14 shots that came her way. Osland would stop 5 out of 6 shots that came her way during the final three minutes of the game and the Bulldogs would come out with a 4-2 victory.

The Bulldogs finish their “preseason” with a 3-1 record and three straight victories, all on home ice. The Women’s ACHA team will face their first ACHA regular season game next Friday at 7pm when they face off against Robert Morris University.
