Former Adrian Women's Hockey Captain Goes Pro
Former Adrian College women’s hockey captain Hannah McGowan will be making history this October. August 17th, McGowan signed with the Buffalo Beauts of the newly formed National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL), the first professional women’s hockey league that pays their players.
McGowan played all four years of her collegiate career with the NCAA DIII Women’s Team at Adrian College and amassed 100 points in 103 career games with the Bulldogs.
Compiling 26 points in 28 games her freshman season, McGowan was named to the all NCHA Rookie team along as an All-NCHA honorable mention. She reached the 100 point milestone in her last regular season game with the Bulldogs on February 21st against the Concordia (Wisc) University Falcons after assisting on the game winning goal.
McGowan and the Beauts will make history on October 11th, 2015 when the puck drops for the inaugural season at the HarborCenter in Buffalo, New York. For more information on the NWHL, go to nwhl.co or you can find them on Facebook as NWHL.
