17 Players Pick Up Points As MD1 Drops Davenport 11-1
The MD1 team travelled to Grand Rapids, Michigan Saturday night to take on GLCHL foe the Davenport University Panthers.
Dominic Moore got things going for the visiting Bulldogs at the 6:18 mark of the first period, scoring the first of four first period Bulldog goals with assists from Sam Spaedt and Manny Silverio. Tyler Fyfe would make things 2-0 six minutes later with the lone assist from Mike Finger. Moore would snag his second of the game two minutes later with assists from Brodie Thornton and Dylan Kent. Davenport would cut the lead to 3-1, but it would be all Bulldogs for the rest of the game. Nash Hatcher's first in a Bulldog sweater would come with 2.4 seconds left in the period for a 4-1 lead for the Dawgs going into the first intermission. Brenden Stanko would pick up the only assist on Hatcher's first career goal.
Dan Stone's fourth of the season would be the first of five Bulldog powerplay goals in the final forty minutes of play and the first of three in the second period. Thornton and Moore would assist. Silverio would net his fourth of the season, also on the powerplay, at the 17:01 mark of the second period. Austin Kuhn would grab his fourth of the year as well, his goal coming with 32 seconds left in the period. Alec Daman and Dakota Bohn would assist on the powerplay goal. After two, the Dawgs held a commanding 7-1 lead over the Panthers.
Mike Finger's third of the season would make things 8-1 Bulldogs with 2:18 gone in the final period of play with Matteo DiGiulio grabbing the lone assist. Chris Donaldson would score the fourth powerplay goal of the game and ninth overall of the night five minutes later with the single assist once again going to DiGiulio. Hatcher would light the lamp for the second time at the 10:22 mark of the third, this time with assists from Spaedt and Daman for the Dawgs fifth powerplay goal and tenth overall goal of the night. Fyfe's second of the game would round things out at 11-1 with 11:09 gone in the third with assists coming from Donaldson and DeVon Fields.
Andrew Wagner would pick up the win in net for the Bulldogs and Harrison Fleming would get his first showing between the pipes as a Bulldog in the final half of the third frame.
The Bulldogs return home this weekend for a two game series against Jamestown University on Thursday and Friday nights at Arrington Ice Arena.
