The Men's NCAA team's first powerhouse duo has been reunited once again.

Shawn Skelly '11 is back with the Men's Varsity team this season, this time as an assistant coach alongside former linemate and captain Adam Krug '09 after the departure of former assistant coach Chase Fuchs this past month.

Skelly and Krug combined for 112 goals and 77 assists in their two seasons as two parts of the best trio in the NCAA DIII alongside Eric Miller '11 for the highest scoring line in NCAA DIII history in the inaugural season in 2007-08.

Skelly would set two school records in his four years at Adrian as a part of the inaugural recruiting class for the Men's NCAA team. His 102 career goals would be the highest number of goals scored by an Adrian player until last November and is still the NCAA team's record for career goals for a single player and his 229 points is still the most of any player to suit up for any Adrian team in the decade long legacy. Skelly was also a member of the 2010-11 team that made it all the way to the National Final game in only the fourth year of the team's existence.

Skelly not only holds Adrian College records, but DIII records as well. Skelly currently holds the current DIII record in; assists on game winning goals in a season (7 in 2009 and 2011), career assists on game winning goals (23) and career game winning goals (20),.

After graduating from Adrian in 2011, Skelly went on to play on a number of teams in the Southern Professional Hockey League and East Coast Hockey League before heading back to Adrian last season as an assistant coach with the Women's NCAA team on campus. He and Chad Davis led the Women's NCAA team to their best year in program history, coaching the team to their first Frozen Four appearance and the National Championship game in the 2016-17 season.

"This is a unique opportunity that I couldn’t pass up, having the chance to coach along side one of ex-teammates as well as a very close friend," said Skelly, "We had some amazing chemistry on the ice during our two years together as Bulldogs and I cannot wait to see what kind of things we can do together from behind the bench. I look forward to growing as a coach while working with Adam and learning everything I can from him. It’s going to be an exciting year for the Bulldogs and I’m so honored to now be the new assistant coach.

You can catch Skelly and Krug behind the bench together for the first time on Saturday, November 28th at 7:30 pm when the NCAA team opens the season with an exhibition game against the US National U18 Team at Arrington Ice Arena.
